Being noticed by such a fantastic blogger is a compliment in and of itself. Considering I read her blog daily and have never once felt let down by her, I suggest you do so as well. You wont be sorry. The only stipulation of this award is that I give a reason as to why Im such a rockstar. Should be easy enough, no?

New Moon

We went. We saw. We conqured. Our New Moon showing was at 12:02 AM so in order to last, we needed snacks and energy drinks.

About thirty minutes from the end of the movie (at the most intense part), the fire alarm went off- everyone started to leave the theater trampling each other and a real panic set in with the crowd. My friend Cheryl was getting annoyed with me because I wouldn't get up. My theory was as follows: 'Its 230 am, were surrounded by kids, there is no fire, stay put or we will lose our seats." Cheryl still demanded I get up- I looked at her, grabbed my chair and said 'Ill burn before I leave this theater' hilarity ensued and after about 20 minutes the movie came back on, half of the crowd having left. Suckers. The other half were left to fight over who was in which seats and whatnot.

Our Evening in pictures:

We used the self timer on this one- (and no- I dont know why Cheryls teeth are glowing)

Hope you enjoyed the movie half as much as we did!

Lessons in Thievery

Let me tell you a little story about how things happen in my world.

Derek and I are having his family over for dinner tonight so a stop at the grocery store was in order. After acquiring all necessary items for said dinner party I opted for the self checkout lane. Ive always thought the barcodes, beeping and keypads looked like a lot of fun and who didn’t play “cashier” as a kid? Despite having the 20 items or less, I had a few setbacks but managed to get out of the store in one piece.

After getting home, unloading the groceries and putting them away, I remembered that upon checkout I felt a little uneasy about the final bill. Because Id decided to play dress up of sorts, I wanted to check my work and make sure I hadn’t double charged myself or anything crazy. It was only then that I realized I hadn’t charged myself for the fresh cut flowers Id placed in my basket. I really like to keep fresh flowers around the house, especially when company is coming over.

It was in this moment I had a short lived feeling of remorse. On one hand, Id managed to stick an entire five dollars to the man and on the other hand, I felt a little guilty. I immediately rationalized it in my mind because how many times have we paid for a greeting card or a can of hairspray/tube of mascara only to arrive home without that much needed item (its always the one thing you NEED and the only thing not written on your list). Perhaps had I hopped back in my car and returned to the store to show them how honest and what a good citizen I am, the following would not have happened.

I reached into the cabinet above the stove where I store my vases and took a moment to decide which would make my flowers look their best. I grabbed for the one Id chosen only to watch another tumble out of the cabinet, onto the counter and smash into a million teeny tiny shards of broken glass ALL OVER MY KITCHEN. It was on the counters, the stove, the burners, the coffee maker, the bags of bread, the floor and even the island.

I spent the next hour cleaning up every single piece I could find wishing I would have chosen to go back to the store and do the right thing instead of celebrate my small victory against corporate America.

And so, readers, today’s lesson is: Thou shall not steal. Ever. Even if on accident.

WAHOOOOO

UPDATE:

Guess who has been given meet and greet passes for the Blue October concert Saturday night?

Me!!!

I am literally bursting from the inside out.

BIG Week

As of late, my blog seems to fall under the category of feast or famine. I either have to much to say I cant type it out fast enough, or I find myself looking through all of your blogs for inspiration. I have a very busy week ahead of me and I thought I would share some exciting points with you! If nothing else, its kinda all I have to talk about...

Thursday night, of course, is the much anticipated midnight showing of New Moon. My fellow obsessed girls and I bought our tickets weeks ago so the countdown is officially on. Dinner and drinks will be mandatory to keep us up until such an hour on a work night but something tells me the idea of Edward and Jacob flashing across the screen shirtless will keep us amped up. Cannot wait to squeal with delight while wearing my "I (HEART) Edward Cullen" t shirt. Yes, Im that girl.

Friday night, my sweet Katie is getting married! I cant believe its already here! What a whirlwind their engagement has been. I know the wedding will be a blast and cannot wait to celebrate their love with my own love on my arm. Hes such good arm candy! Weddings together are kind of our specialty- believe it or not weve only been able to sit together and share both the ceremony and reception of a wedding three times. Were always in them so this one will be a special treat to sit back and enjoy the show.

Saturday night I will be seeing (for the 374,893,218,930,819th time) Blue October in concert. I have never missed a show in all the times they have played here in Austin (or the DFW area for that matter- hell, Ive even flown to Chicago to see them). My friend and former college roommate Susie will be coming to stay with me and take in the show along side all the other devoted fans. So excited to sing along and scream my head off.

Anyway, I suppose thats all for now- enjoy your Monday- we got a cool front here in Austin and it actually feels like fall! I plan to enjoy it for as long as it lasts.

Another glimpse into my life with Derek

(One hour after taking my first does of hydrocodone last night):

Me: "Derek, I feel weird, like drunk and wired at the same time"
Derek: (only slightly caring/watching TV rather than listening) "Hmm..."
Me: "Will you check my pulse, I think its racing"
Derek: (still starring off into the distance he grabs my forearm and places his thumb on it) "Am I checking to see if you have a pulse???"

(Insert loud sigh followed by hysterical crack up here)
Maybe it was only funny to those of us on drugs?

Sickness Update

Yes, Im STILL sick. I went back to the Doctor today for chest x rays and some more blood tests. Needless to say, my Pneumonia isnt really getting that much better but I am on a whole new slew of medications. Todays newest additions consisted of steroids in pill form, an inhaler and hydrocodone. Add this to what I have from the last few weeks as well as the over-the-counter stuff and Im pretty much pumped full of medicine at any given moment.

Allow me to show you my collection (whats kept me alive):

Next week (on Monday) I am scheduled to see a pulmonology specialist. Please keep em crossed for me!

Tripod Dinner Date

I had dinner with two of my great loves last night. Michelle, Kyndall and I had some great laughs as always, ate way too much sushi and made fun of each other for various reasons- if only Kyn hadnt moved to Dallas we could still try to do this once a week- sigh...

(its not our best picture but for now, you get the idea)

Golf

For Dereks birthday, I set up a round of golf at a resort hed mentioned wanting to play. Lucky for me (because my knowledge of golf is VERY limited) his friend Tyler had connections and was able to get us a fantastic deal- caddy and all. I took a ton of pictures but the one I wanted to share with you, reader, is one of me.

This is what I look like while playing golf:

I look very involved and interested, dont I?

We had so much fun and loved our caddy- we enjoyed a long 18 holes, a late lunch at the clubhouse and a few drinks at the bar. All in all, a good day- thanks to People.com and all of your blogs, I was kept entertained whilst pretending to golf.

Should I Be Ashamed? Cause Im Not.

Derek: "I feel like youve been blogging a lot lately"
Me: "Thats because I have, Ive had a lot to say"
Derek: "Does this mean youll start vlogging too?" (said in somewhat mocking tone I might add)
Me: "No, because then Id have to shower and put on makeup regularly"

Seasons

Now that Halloween is behind us, its time to bust out the turkeys!
Yes, Im that woman (girl) that aspires to always have a home decorated to fit the season.

Last week:

(Pumkins purchased at an adorable shop while out and about with Erin in Burleson)

This week:

Before you judge my Pilgrim/Indian combo, let me explain. Derek decided about two years ago that I look like an Indian woman (feather, not dot) and thus dubbed me Jenny Redcorn. I thought these two little trinkets were just too perfect to pass up, its like a mini me and Derek (minus the buckled shoes) right there in our entryway.

Damn Yankees

We have a Yankees fan in our house. Can you guess who it is?

Not me. I loathe the Yankees. Anyone who knows me knows that my heart belongs to the Red Sox.
So displeased with the World Series... heres to next year.

I Have a Low Functioning Brain Today

I have no logical flow with my thought process today so just grin and bear it. Raaaaaaaaaar!

1) Be sure to enter my giveaway if you havent already done so. Polls close tomorrow and you dont wanna miss your chance. This could be your big moment...

2) Reggie is back to his old tricks and seems to be a healthy pup once again. He had his first haircut on Tuesday and so we celebrated with a photo shoot. Dont think Im one of those dog parents that loves him more than my first dog and true love, Molly. She just doesnt sit still for the camera like he does. Hes a real poser. Case in point:

Doesnt it look like hes talking and I caught him mid-sentance? Oh how I wish he could talk.

Okay, Im seriously obsessed with this dog, I know. I had a promotion for work last night and I made all my friends look at these pictures on my camera. All of them.

3) Derek told me he felt sexy today.

4) Dont you love online shopping? I love coming home to a package on the porch- there is so much potential in opening that box/bag. I recently ordered two silly shirts and have been eagerly awaiting their arrival- one has a picture of Tony Danza on it and says "Im the boss" (although one can argue Angela wore the pants in that relationship) and the other is a bit more controversial. At the risk of really offending some of you Im going to tell you what it says despite my instinct to just keep my mouth shut and my fingers still. It says "I read to the deaf"- dont you dare judge me.

5) Did I lose any followers in saying/typing that?

6) Why is Cookie Monster on Google today? Anyone know?

Almost Wordless Wednesday

Is it November 19th yet? Yes, I bought my tickets to the midnight showing about three weeks ago.

Cinco from Cinco

My real life BF A Real Housewife tagged me and because I am incredibly good at following instructions I will now answer the 5 questions with 5 answers, then tag 5 bloggers. The funny tidbit about this post is that for the last 7 years I have called erin "Cinco"- hence the title.

1. What were you doing 10 years ago? Oh boy, I was 16 so....

*Id just gotten my drivers license, was driving a very sleek and cool SATURN- try not to be jealous ;)
*Spending most of my free time in dance, both studio lessons and drill team. I never played sports so dance is one of the only "athletic" things I am capable of pulling off
*I was dating a baseball player who would later prove to be completely psychotic. If only Id listened to my parents more...
*I spent a lot of time with my friends- both in my neighborhood where many of us lived and at Kyndall and Michelles houses. Kyndalls mom was always a phenomenal cook and I ate there as much as possible
*I also spent a lot of time convincing myself I was too fat- boy did I have it good back then, if only Id known its downhill after college!

2. What are 5 things on your To-Do list today?

*Sales meeting 630 AM
*Get Reggie to his grooming appointment on time
*Stop by the vet yet again to spend MORE money on heartworm prevention and flea/tick drops
*Make dinner (horseradish crusted tilapia filets and asparagus)
*Get more sleep than I did last night

3. What 5 snacks do you enjoy?

*String cheese
*Chips/tortillas & queso
*Peanut butter or nutella- depends on my mood
*Applesauce
*Yogurt

4. Where are 5 places you have lived?

*Holyoke, MA
*Austin, TX
*Fort Worth, TX
*Pflugerville, TX
* A dream world where it rains money and nobody has to work (there are vacancies if youre looking to move)

5. What are 5 things you would do if you were a billionaire?

*Quit my job
*Pay off student loans and any remaining debt
*Buy a Volvo SUV- Derek thinks its absurd that its my dream car but what can I say? I dream practical.
*Build a home with a giant closet, dog room, guest rooms, themed party rooms, a pool with guest house- just an over the top pad in general
* Put a ton away for future shopping sprees when I have nothing to wear

Disgusting

Monday nights typically find me in bed very early. Last night was no exception- I went to bed at 8 but was unable to fall asleep until well after 11:30. This makes for a very tired Dez come 4:45 AM...however this information is neither here nor there.

While laying there with both dogs taking up more of the bed than my own body was, I noticed Reggie seemed to have a bit of a gas issue. The vet warned me this would be coming as his intestines are very swollen and bloated due to this weekends health debacle. Expressing gas would be the only way he would start to feel better and she explained it could be a very smelly situation. Naturally he has yet to pass gas in Dereks presence so just to share what I was going though I texted Derek... he was in another room.

His response: "Does it smell like an old lady fart passing though and onion?" (Always Sunny, anyone?)

Do you guys ever text people that are just a room or two away? Ever text someone in the same room as you? Ever get a response that made you want to throw up any worse than that one did?

Rest and Stress

This past weekend I did very little more than lay in bed, take lots of medicine and watch bad TV. When I say bad, of course I mean awesome TV. Friday I missed a much anticipated girls night out in honor of my friend Cheryls birthday (boo). I tried to be a responsible adult and stayed in bed instead- only rising to greet Macey and watch her devour her yogurt when she came to play. Saturday I did exactly the same thing, I woke up pretty early, took my medicine and stayed laying in bed for the next FIFTEEN hours. I skipped an Aggie football game and a Halloween party too!

The one and only reason I got up and stayed up was because we had a sick dog on our hands Saturday night/Sunday morning. Ill spare you all the greusome details but suffice it to say we ended up at the animal hospital from 3-5 AM. We were sent home with two meds and a suggestion to get xrays on Reggie ASAP (no, I will not pay you $180 on top of your already outrageous fees). I opted to let him take some medicine (much like I planned to do myself) and see how he felt on Monday.

Reggie did end up seeing our normal vet yesterday and was given a diagnosis after being taken in for xrays (much cheaper ones at that) and well go back in 5 days to make sure hes cured.

I love my dogs more than a lot of things but they can be so damn expensive! Its a good thing theyre so cute...

Molly kinda blends in with the rug, no?

Excited

So I just got home from the grocery store... and guess what is already on the shelves? Ill give you a hint...

Pardon my French, but you bet your ass I bought some. I love this stuff almost as much as I love Christmas! And no, I most certainly did not opt for the low fat kind thankyouverymuch.

(does this picture seem redundant to anyone else?)

Oops

Me: "I dont know, I hate to sound ungrateful but there seems to be something wrong with my company car at any given moment"

Derek: "What do you mean? Its free and you dont ever have to pay for fixes"

Me: "Its still a pain to deal with and it takes up time Id normally be out making sales, instead Im stuck at the office with nothing to do while I wait for the shop to fix it"

Derek: "Could be worse"

Me: "Yea, I know, dont mean to sound bratty- but its a real melon of a car"

Derek: "Um, babe, do you mean lemon?"

Me: "Whatever, yea, melon"

Derek: "No, lemon. LEMON"

Me: "Thats what I meant"
