Remember That Time I Almost Died?

Our Air conditioner broke last night. We went outside to do some much needed yard work (3 hours worth, to be exact) and came inside to a not so cool house. Derek figured whatever it was, he could fix and assured me he had a few ideas of how to do so. After several failed attempts, it was too late to pester any of our friends or family for a bed in their cooled homes.

By the time we went to bed, it was clear the situation was not improving at all. We both had the worst nights sleep you can possibly imagine- waking up several times, sweaty and miserable- on top of the sheets, mind you. By the time we had to get up to start our days, we knew a call had to be made and hoped for the best (and cheapest).  Living in Texas and having a 102 degree summer day already in June- AC is an absolute must.

Come 2 PM we had a repairman here fixing our unit- and by then it was a stifling 87 degrees. The man joked that it was cooler and breezier outside than inside our house. Once he wrapped up and explained it would take hours to get the temperature back down to a comfortable, I gave up and drove my sweaty self to Sonic for a giant slush. Ice water just wasn’t doing it for me seeing as how the ice would melt faster than I could chew it up.

As I type this, the house is still 77 but it feels amazing compared to last night and this morning. Ugh, Ill try to not take our AC for granted as much this summer.

Try It Thursday- Crispin Cider

As many of you already know, I work for a distributer here in Austin. We sell many products ranging from bottled water, tea, alcohol and energy drinks. Thanks to a suggestion from my dearest Erin, I have decided to take you along on my journey. I will choose a product we distribute and tell you everything I know about it- every Thursday. And now for our first… Try It Thursday! Because we just launched this new product last night, its new and exciting Ill start with it.

Crispin Hard Ciders are naturally fermented using a premium apple juice blend, not from concentrate, with no added malt, grape wine or spirit alcohol. The unique flavors are smoothed with pure apple juice or organic honey or organic maple syrup and contain no added colorants, sorbate or benzoate preservatives and are cold filtered for crisp refreshment. Whats even more different? The company is pushing that these drinks should be served over ice. What sounds more refreshing than an iced down tasty treat that will also give you a little buzz? Not much, my friends. Not much.

The appeal of this drink, aside from its all natural ingredients, are all the different combinations to try! Crispin Hard Ciders are deliciously crisp over ice on their own. They are also excellent accompaniments for professional and aspiring mixologists - for the Lazy Bartender looking for a quick, easy, refreshing cider cocktail adventure, or for the more adventurous wanting to investigate more complex creative mixology.

Just to give you a few delicious examples:
Crispin + Bud Light Lime = Snake Light Lime
Crispin + Dos Equis = Sidewinder
Crispin + Dos Equis Amber = Rattlesnake
Crispin + Smithwicks = Amber Velvet
Crispin + Guiness = Crispin Velvet
Crispin + Blue Moon = Blue Velvet
(or if your loyal to the Bud family like I am- Shock Top)
Crispin + Shiner Bock = Shiner Velvet
(or if your loyal to the Bud family like I am- Ziegenbock)
Crispin + Irish Whiskey = Big Apple
Crispin + Jack Daniels = Jack Frost
Crispin + Captain Morgan = Cap’n Crisp

And pairing it with food? Yes please!

I used my new camera and looked like a total tourist.
We also went and "shagged some balls"

I threw together (and by threw together, I mean stressed and planned and organized) a boat party for my Irish guests. We ended up having a phenomenal turn out and I couldn’t be more pleased with how much fun we all had.

Fathers Day

I wanted to take a minute to say happy fathers day- no, not to you.

To my grandfather who has been the most consistent man in my life. He taught me what a man can and should be and continues to be my role model and my moral compass.
To my future father in law (Janet, show him this) who makes me laugh EVERY SINGLE time Im in his company. He is so kind and has such a big heart and Im honored to be his "daughter"
(Im sure I have a better picture of him somewhere, but I have to sneak almost all I take so itll have to do).
...and to my fiance who not only does a phenomenal job of raising and caring for our two pups but who also will be an amazing father to our children someday. I look forward to starting a family and watching you teach them all the things youre so good at.
Cheers to all three of you and most of all THANK YOU!

Guess Who

Guess who had her first dress fitting yesterday? Guess who is even more in love with her dress than she was before? Guess who could leap out of her skin at the thought of being able to put it on- that all important dress-and marry the man she loves?
Thatd be me.

Guess who is still exhausted from hosting two Irish friends for a week of eating, drinking and playing? Guess who could sleep for two days solid and still feel beat? Guess who hasn’t seen the inside of her oven for what feels like forever from all the packed on “must have” Texas meals?

Thatd be me.

Guess who spent fathers day with her Grandfather today? Guess who talked to him about nervously dancing with one another come that big day in January? Guess who saw him try on his Air Force attire he will wear as he walks her down the aisle? Guess who got teary eyed at the very thought of getting to share this day with such an amazing man and role model?

Thad be me.

Guess who has watched 20 episodes of Say Yes to the Dress this weekend- all while nervously hoping she doesnt see a dress she liked more than her own? Guess who still hasn’t found one that quite speaks to her as much as hers does? Guess who got her waist “sash” at the unbelievably low price of ten bucks?

Thatd be me.

Guess who felt her much anticipated niece kick from the inside out for the first time this weekend? Guess who took pictures of Macey playing with bubbles all weekend? Guess who genuinely enjoyed a weekend full of family time? Guess who capped it all of by sharing a beer with her love and their dogs on their back deck?

Thatd be me.

Project!

I decided to dress up a hallway in our house this week. I not only wanted to display some of our engagement pictures, but I wanted to make a house a home. Please excuse the pictures as the lighting was not ideal and the hallway is awkward to shoot.

Im a Bride!

This Saturday was my very first bridal shower. Yes, our wedding is 7 months away but our year is going to be BUSY to say the least so the timing was perfect. We have visitors coming from Ireland, a trip to Cabo, my birthday and Dereks as well, a second niece on the way (and a baby shower to celebrate), a best friend giving birth to her first son (another baby shower), a couples shower to throw, a cousins bachelor party, the same cousins wedding our own bachelor and bachelorette parties and our couples shower, my bridal luncheon and of course the craziness of the holidays. Reading it all is exhausting.

Putting my gratitude into words has truly been difficult for me. I had friends drive hours and hours to see me- to spend maybe 3 hours watching me awkwardly open gifts and ooh and ahh over our china. One gift in particular makes my heart melt. I was given a new camera- a big girl one with a big lens and a neck strap, you know the kind- well, the pictures are amazing. I have been playing with it all weekend. We ate, we drank and we took about 14 million pictures. And now I will share (some of) them with all of you!
