Dog Love

One of my most cherished routines is kissing Reggie on his big Jew nose (not the wet part). He is always so polite and shakes my hand after kissy time. Im not a big fan of dog licks on the face and he respects that about me, politely skirting my boundaries.

*** please dont be offended, I am actually a wanna be Jew (no, Im not kidding) and no offense was meant by said racial slur, I just really dont know how else to describe his big, downward sloped nose***

Another one is scooping up sweet Molls and giving her big bear hugs and holding her like a human baby. She feels like a feather now compared to the beast dog and shes so good at hugging back.

Do any of you have weird ways of showing love muffins to your furry ones? Do I look like a total psychopath now?

Shes Just Being Miley

Here they are- Derek and Miley, just hanging out...

Everytime I walk in the room and flip on the light (Miley is currently a resident of the dog/man room) I jump and think someone is in our house!

Reggie lost his manhood today, he is moping around and whimpers everytime he wakes up. Poor little guy. Im hoping hes back to his normal and playful self tomorrow, I know Molly would appreciate it. The vet let me know today that while his Staph infection has cleared up and now he has a tapeworm- such is our luck, I guess. Like I mentioned before, stuff like this sure makes one feel like a bad puppy mom despite spending a lifetime of savings on the dog itself, the flea and heartworm prevention and of course the vaccinations.

I started to re-read the Twilight series today. I know many of you have most likely already done so but it was so life consuming the first time I have put it off and now I deem it necessary with the impending release of New Moon in November. Consider my nose in the books for the next sixty days.

Derek and I had pancakes for dinner tonight- we playfully called it 'brinner' about 300 times while doing so.

That was my Wednesday. Try not to be too jealous.

Speechless

At the risk of making Derek sound like a total freak show, Im going to share with you the email I was just cc'd on (from Derek to his best friend and his wife):
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Brad and Valerie,

Thank you very much for my life size stand up cardboard cut out of Hannah Montana. I especially like that I got to share the excitement of opening my gift with all of my collegues at work. This will look great in our living room!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No- readers- this is not a joke. Derek likes to like things that weird people out- I cant really explain it much further than that but suffice it to say, he likes to get a reaction out of people. On top of that, I feel pretty certain that he genuinely likes some of Mileys songs.... whoa is me.

And so.... I am nervously awaiting said cardboard cut-out and trying to decide where her home really should be because Ill be damned if shes going to reside in my living room. Man cave or garage? Perhaps Ill put up another poll once this one ends...? And yes, a picture will be added once she gets home. I wonder what the cleaning lady will make of this new addition.

Ill attempt to explain but you cant judge: last year we started a tradition of always looking for sticks that resemble guns- thus naming them "stick guns"- we had to find one for Dereks birthday, it was only right.

Yesterday was Dereks birthday, the man I love turned 29 years old and we celebrated in style.

Friday night was date night, my treat! We ate a delicious meal at Ruths Chris Steakhouse in downtown Austin- stuffed our faces with fresh bread, ceaser salad, lobster bisque, gumbo, steaks, mashed potatos, red wine and lots of sweets. Neither of us had tried Ruths before so we were excited to spend such a special occasion in such style.

Dereks actual birthday, Saturday, was spent in Aggieland tailgating, at the game, and then at Northgate. He was happy, in his element and I felt so blessed to be the one on his arm on his special day. He truly is an amazing man and birthdays are just one reason to make such a big deal out of him.

I took a ton of pictures but my laptop seems to be a bit on the outs lately (all sorts of error messages, I may be out of memory and it keeps saying my version of Windows cannot be authenticated). I am so frustrated and feel sick at the very thought of having to shell out a pretty penny for a new one. Its been almost five years since laptop and I have been together so it seems feasible a new one may be in my future... Im just not ready yet.

Poll

I added a poll over on the right ------------------------------>

Vote! Im curious...

Hump Day Randoms

Tonight marks the last night my grandmother will be in the great state of Texas. She flies back to MA tomorrow and Im pretty sad about it. Despite seeing her all but one day during her visit, its still not enough. I will see her again come Thanksgiving so I have that much going for me, I just wish she lived here and I got to see her more often.

Some things Im otherwise happy about:
- Getting a multitude of beer placements this week at work (yay for extra $)
- The return of all my dramatic shows
- It being cleaning lady day
- Two new dresses purchased today
- ERIN being in College Station this weekend- we get to meet up and play both before and after game time
- My adorable dogs who are the most excited anyone has ever been to see me- day in and day out
- Dereks bithday week off to a great start

Nobdoy Puts Baby In the Corner

I cant believe Patrick Swayze had passed away. Well, Iguess I can considering he had a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer TWENTY MONTHS ago- yes, that in itself is incredibly impressive. Not only was he a singer, a dancer and an actor, but he was a legend and a fighter. God bless you, Patrick and the memories you left behind- you will be truly missed.

A New Friend

Something amazing happened this weekend- I made a new friend! While Derek and I were at his high school reunion, I was introduced to Jennifer- who quickly told me she reads my blog. No, we hadnt met until last night and despite her jokes about being a stalker- it actually made my night! Do all of you get excited about readers too? It just made me feel pretty special and I was happy to know someone out there is entertained by little ol me!

So, without further adieu... I give you Jennifer! I hope she sees this post and doesnt hate me for putting her out on the world wide web.

Nannies Party

Nannies party was held at Westwood Country Club on Saturday- I will let the pictures do the talking. Nannie was presented a Texas flag that was flown over the state capitol for two weeks in honor of her 95th birthday- she used to work there and year after year, they always help us make her feel so special.

And last but certainly not least, me and my Nannie:

Absence

Hello world, here I am!

Just checking in to remind you of my absence... as if you were dying to know where I have been, no?

My Grandmother flew in yesterday afternoon for the big celebration on Saturday- my Nannie turns 95. She lives alone, is more sarcastic than ever, knows how to bargain shop like no other and makes me laugh when she tells her g rated jokes. I could not be more proud to share the next week with my family from near and far all in her honor. What an amazing life she has had!

In other news, Dereks TEN YEAR high school reunion is this weekend so atop the family pie will be a sprinkling of old friends and awkward catch up conversations. My biggest stress? What to wear...

Current Pet Peeve

...when solicitors come up to knock on your door, ring the doorbell three times and start shouting "hello" because your car is in the driveway. If Im home alone and I dont know you, dont know what you need or if youre annoying me just so you can mow my lawn- chances are I will not open the door. You can see someone may be here but they may be in the shower, unable to come to the door, napping, or simply ignoring you. Please just go away. Thanks. Bye.

Having said all of that, if you are a girl scout, youre always welcome!

September?! Wow.

While Tuesday morning meetings are totally a pain in my side, I have to admit they seem to be some of my most productive work days. Sure, Im exhausted most of the day but I sure can cram in a lot of work despite it.

After our meeting ended, I had breakfast with my boss and a brewery rep- then I visited SEVEN accounts before I even got hungry for lunch. As I type this now, its only 1:30 and I think my day is close to being over. What to do...

If the remainder of my week can run this smoothly, I will be a happy camper. Not only are we facing a long weekend, the start of Aggie Football (no, Im not an Aggie, yes Im a good girlfand) [I made that up, does it work or do I look foolish?] but also I have been looking forward to NEXT week as Ill have family flying in town!

My great grandmother turns 95 (she lives alone, does everything besides drive on her own) and its time to party down in honor of that impressive number.

With this much fun stuff to look forward to and be grateful, not even an early morning meeting got me down today!
